About Us

My name is Michelle and I am the inventor of the Just Right Travel Kit. Throughout my childhood, I was lucky enough to get to travel a lot.  My dad worked all over the country and every summer we would pack up our big, black cargo style van (this was before seat belts were mandatory) and set off on a journey across the country.  We traveled to over half of the states.  I remember as kids, we loved the little soaps and shampoos that were stocked in our hotel rooms.  We would come home with a big bag of them.  There was a drawer in our bathroom full of those hotel toiletries.  It was always a thrill when they had more than just soap and shampoo; shower caps were a big hit, although I am pretty sure we never actually used them as a shower cap.  I still love traveling today although I don't love hotel shampoo as much.

So how did we get from there to here?  It all started with a business trip to Las Vegas.  The trip was for a conference and I was only there for 3 days.  So in the interest of packing light, I decided to not bring my own shampoo and conditioner.  I assumed that since I was staying at a fancy hotel on the strip in Vegas, the toiletries the hotel provided would be fine.  How wrong I was!  You can call me picky, but I was not impressed with the quality of the hotel shampoo and conditioner.

So, off I go to Target.  Hopefully I thought that Target would have something a little better than what the hotel offered.  Of course, Target has a limited selection and doesn't have the brand I use.  I don't have extra room in my suitcase to buy the big bottles either.  So I settle for another brand.

After I got home I started thinking about my trip.  What could I have done differently?  I could have just packed my own shampoo and conditioner but since it didn't come in travel size, the big bottles would take up tons of room and add weight.  That won't help with the 50 lb. weight light.  I can hear you saying, it was only 3 days, weren't you packing light?  Ha!  I try but it usually doesn't work and my husband did come with me, so we were sharing a suitcase.

Anyway, I suppose I could have bought those little travel size bottles and poured my shampoo into them.  But those bottles leak and they are messy to fill.  Not to mention, I never know how much to put in there.  I usually overestimate and end up with leftover in there.  Unfortunately, I don't get to travel as much these days, so my shampoo usually ends up getting gross before I have a chance to use it again.

This led me to develop the Just Right Travel Kit, a revolutionary way to pack toiletries for traveling.
